With over 50 acres devoted to nursery production, Peterson’s Riverview Nursery, LLC produces over 1.5 million fir, spruce, and pine seedlings and transplants annually. Located in the southwest corner of Michigan, our nursery thrives in sandy soils and moderate temperatures due to the close proximity of Lake Michigan. We produce trees for multiple uses, including the Christmas tree industry, reforestation, landscaping, and conservation.
Our nursery’s growing cycle is based on a 4 year rotation. Seeds are sown in the Fall and Spring and raised in seedbeds for 2 years. At that time, they are either sold or transplanted back into the nursery for another 1 to 2 years prior to being harvested. Once the rotation is complete, the fields are planted with a cover crop for 1 year before the rotation begins again.
